Can I take my website with me if we end our partnership?
- Yes. This is something that you can’t do with most website companies. I think they use this as leverage to keep you paying their high monthly hosting fees. With Acts 1:8 Websites, if after we have built your site you decide that you want to take it with you somewhere else, you can. There is a one time fee of $300 for this service. The transfer fee covers our cost associated with transferring everything you have loaded on our server to another host provider via email, FTP, or on to a USB drive that we will mail to you. If you have more than 4 gigabytes of content, you will need to either provide us with a hard drive or pay the additional cost for us to purchase one. The transfer fee also includes a permanent license for your church to continue to use and/or modify your website design. This also includes any modifications we have made to your site’s design including plug-in upgrades, widget tools, graphics, etc.
How do I pay for my site?
- At this time all payments can be made via Paypal to billing@Acts18Websites.com. Paypal accepts all major credit cards. If you want to pay with a church check, let us know and we’ll work that out.
What do other church website companies charge for website design and hosting?
- I’m sure you’ve shopped around, I did a google search for church website design and these were the first three I saw. If you look at the features offered by Acts 1:8 Websites and compare them, you’ll be looking at the higher end packages from these companies. The lower price packages that many companies offer are teaser/bait-n-switch kind of deals. They offer limited space like 10-50 mb of space and some of them only give you 5-10 pages of content. Just for comparison, there’s no limit to the amount of space or pages you can have with Acts 1:8 Websites.
- NetMinistry.com: Setup:$150 for a non-custom template, $480 - $1000 for customization | hosting: $34.95/mo
- Elexio.com: Setup: $700-$3,900 | Hosting: $40/mo – $115/mo
- BuildAChurchWebsite.com: Setup: $1,795-$2,495 | Hosting: $49.95/mo – $109.95/mo
*Unlimited file space and email accounts: Think of this unlimited offer like a lunch buffet. We ask that you only take what you need. We don’t want to put a limit on you and charge you if you go over a certain amount. We would prefer that you use less than 5 gigabytes of space and have less than 20 email accounts. But if you need more than that, take it and use it. But we ask that you not take up more space than you need. Be considerate of our partnership and other churches that are using our server’s file space by deleting outdated or unused files.
We would kindly ask that you not abuse this. What we mean when we say unlimited is that we are not setting a limit to the number of files or file size you can upload. As a ministry partner, we would ask that you help us conserve file space on our servers by doing things like posting videos and large photo galleries to sites like YouTube, Vimeo, Tangle, Flickr, Snapfish, etc. We can show you how to embedding a link so it looks to users like it’s a part of your site. This saves a ton of server space which allows us to keep our prices low. Doing this also will help your Google search results because people can also find youe church on YouTube, flickr, etc.
As for email accounts: it takes us a few minutes to set up each email account. We have no intention of spending ten hours creating a hundred email accounts for everyone in your church to have an email account that ends with your domain name. Once again, what we mean by unlimited is we’re not setting a limit, but ask that you only take what you need.
Also your website is not to be used as an online back up for non-website related materials. If you do this we will end our partnership and you will forfeit all fees you have paid.
